Music geeks like myself will likely enjoy Sound Opinions, a weekly Chicago radio talk show hosted by Greg Kot and Jim DeRogatis, rock critics of that city’s Tribune and Sun-Times, respectively. It’s meant to be the rock equivalent of what Siskel & Ebert used to be. Good stuff. Streaming audio’s at the web site.
That's good stuff. Thanks.
Yay music geeks! I always enjoy getting all the different takes on things this time of the year - what was considered the "best-of-the-year" - what c.d.'s I must have in my collection, or what would be good to give - etcetera.
another good website one for rXr fanatics is www.gloriousnoise.com.
I had the pleasure (?) of meeting Greg Kot when I was in college, in a "writing about music" class. I admit I despised the man at that point for trashing every show I ever loved, and was ready for a rumble...but after meeting him, in person he was just a guy that really loves talking about music and respects the people that disagree with him, because at least they have formed their own opinions. Rare.
Joshua Benton is the director of the Nieman Journalism Lab at Harvard University, among other things. Before that, he was a staff writer and columnist for The Dallas Morning News. (More.)
