Key tidbit from this interview with Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore: Dude lives in Northampton, Mass., the leafy lefty enclave (where I saw The Aristocrats for the first time, for the record). I had no idea Thurston Moore was allowed to live outside Manhattan.

I mean, maybe Brooklyn. But a sleepy small town in the hills? If feedback falls in the forest, does it make a sound?

Northampton is in our Top 5 places we'd rather live than DFW. That little downtown area is so charming.

What's wrong with Northampton? I'd figure you of all the people I know would appreciate its culture/vibe.

Nothing wrong with Northampton, so far as I know. Just saying that the Northampton way of life and the Sonic Youth/No Wave/avant garde/guitar noise way of life seem kinda, I dunno, distinct. I have a hard time picturing the man behind "Teen Age Riot" living in a farmhouse and tending his garden.
